Find your Path with the SMPS Connecticut Student Pathway Program
The Society of Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) Connecticut chapter is an organization that supports the professional development of marketing and business development professionals, architects, engineers and contractors in the Architectural/Engineering/Construction (A/E/C) industry.
Be prepared after graduation by developing professional relationships and learning how to navigate the building industry.
The transition from student life to full-time employment can be overwhelming. SMPS Connecticut can provide the tools and resources to help support this transition. SMPS Connecticut will cover the student member rate, which includes free SMPS Connecticut workshops, access to our mentorship program, volunteer opportunities and access to our internship bank resources. SMPS Connecticut has it all!
Join as a Student Member
Students enrolled in a full-time study program at an accredited post-secondary institution or part time and not employed full time in the A/E/C industry or not otherwise eligible for regular membership in SMPS are invited to join as student members. The membership candidate must provide verification of student status at the time of application and when renewing the student membership.

The transition from student life to full-time employment can be overwhelming – especially in today’s climate! Learn how you can begin creating a path for yourself within the Architectural/Engineering/Construction (A/E/C) industry now and after graduation. Hear first hand from current A/E/C marketing professionals all about their career path stories and the marketing and business development (and beyond!) career opportunities available within the industry. They discuss how you can apply your current skills to these opportunities and the “transferable” skills one can develop by taking part in an industry association such as SMPS. Student Advisor
Students who become members will be assigned an advisor who will help them make the best of their membership As part of our on-boarding process, we can also offer resume review/building, and LinkedIn profile review/development.
Internships
Gain access to volunteer opportunities to satisfy credit hours needed to graduate (if applicable), and access to paid intern positions (if available). Internship postings can be accessed in our job bank. Professional Development
We will connect you with one of our student advisors who will help you make the best of your membership. As a student or soon to be graduate, your resume and LinkedIn profile may be in the first stage of development. As part of our onboarding process, we can offer resume review/building, LinkedIn profile review/development and headshots.Networking

SMPS Connecticut offers free monthlyeducation workshopsto students. From writing, photography, to Adobe products, we offer workshops that will help you put your best foot forward as you start your career.
Mentorship Cohort
Ourmentorship cohortoffers students an opportunity to participate in meaningful discussions focused on personal growth and professional development. This program will help you connect with A/E/C professionals at all stages of their career, including senior marketers, business development professionals, entry level and other students and recent college graduates. Enroll in our Random Coffee Program to meet other cohort participants one-on-one! Our mentorship cohorts are only open to SMPS Connecticut members.
Programs
SMPS Connecticut offers a variety ofmonthly programs, ranging from mechanics of marketing, client panels, and project tours. SMPS Connecticut invites guest speakers who are “in the know” and “in the now” to keep you up-todate on some of the latest marketing trends and best practices. Topics include digital marketing management, social media management, blogging, digital content creation and management, and presentation skills.
Socials and Member-Only Events
We also offersocials members-only eventssuch as fireside chats with top industry professionals and networking events. These programs provide additional career development and networking opportunities in a small group setting.
Volunteer and Leadership Opportunities
Get the most out of your membership by joining one of ourcommittees! SMPS Connecticut has eight committees and task forces: communications, programs, education, mentorship, membership, diversity/equity/inclusion, job bank, and sponsorship. Lending Library
As a special benefit to members, we offer anexclusive libraryof publications devoted to marketing in the A/E/C industry. General business publications with relevance to our industry are also available. Please let us know if you have any recommendations or titles you’d like to see in our library!
