SMPS CT Professional Achievement Awards

In addition to the awards given for the Marketing Communications Project entries, we will award 3 individuals for their contributions to the chapter and/or A/E/C industry.

Grace Waldvogel Member of the Year - Olivia Morris, BVH Integrated Services

Olivia Morris is a Marketing Coordinator with BVH Integrated Services, P.C. She joined BVH’s marketing team shortly after graduating from Keene State College with a Bachelor of Science in Management and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication. With almost a year under her belt in the A/E/C industry, Olivia is eager to learn and grow as a marketing professional. She is an active member of SMPS Connecticut’s Programs Committee and is looking forward to co-chairing the Committee for the 2019-2020 program year.

This honor is awarded to a SMPS CT member that has gone above and beyond for the Chapter within the 2018-2019 year. The Member of the Year Award recipient was determined by SMPS CT board member votes.

Trail Blazer Award - Jocelyn Taylor, BL Companies

Jocelyn Taylor has been in the A/E/C industry as well as a member (and avid fan!) of SMPS for over three years.

As Marketing Coordinator at BL Companies, Jocelyn is able to flex her creative muscles by promoting the company’s brand, developing various communication materials, and uniquely designing proposals to fit the personality of each project. She prides herself on being a team-player and exemplifies this philosophy by playing an active role in BL’s Giving Back Committee, whose main mission is to promote and practice the value of giving back to the communities where we work and live.

Her passion for learning and personal growth is shown in her involvement with SMPS. As a member of both the Communications and Programs Committees, she has gained a better understanding of the industry along with an ever-increasing sense of confidence as a marketing professional.

This honor is awarded to an up-in-coming Marketer/Business Development Professional who shows great promise for the A/E/C industry and possesses a positive attitude. The Trail Blazer Award recipient was determined by SMPS CT member votes.

The James Bancroft Lifetime Achievement Award - Ruth Millward, Millward and Millward

Ruth studied design at Carnegie Mellon University and the Basel College of Design in Switzerland. She taught at Philadelphia University of the Arts, University of Cincinnati, Ohio State University, and Louisiana State University, where she directed the Graphic Communications program.

After joining a corporate branding firm in NYC, she and her husband co-founded Millward and Millward LLC. A program announcement about the Society for Marketing Professional Services led her to join the Connecticut chapter. Emphasis on clients in the AEC industry evolved from there, along with admiration and appreciation of the industry in general and SMPS-CT in particular.

Millward and Millward’s design work has been recognized by the Library of Congress, Graphis Magazine, Print Magazine, the Art Directors Club of New York, the American Institute of Graphic Arts, and the SMPS National MCA.

Ruth has enjoyed participating in SMPS Connecticut as an officer, board member, committee chair, and program speaker.

This honor is awarded to a seasoned Marketing/Business Development Professional that has made endless contributions to the Marketing/BD profession within the A/E/C industry, and has also acted as an advisor for the chapter. The James Bancroft Lifetime Achievement Award recipient was determined by SMPS CT member votes.
