Join SMPS CT for our first virtual Annual meeting!

  • President, Nichole Petersen will provide our Chapter's highlights from the 2019/2020 year.
  • Members will vote on the 2020/2021 slate of Officers and Directors.
  • The board will honor 3 individuals for their contributions to the Chapter and/or A/E/C industry with SMPS CT Professional Development Awards.
  • The webinar, "Prospering in a Virtual Environment" originally set to  immediately follow the Annual meeting has been rescheduled to Wednesday, July 8, 2020. Additional details available here.

Professional Acheivement Awards:

Grace Waldvogel Member of the Year - Hannah Sullivan, Marketing Coordinator | Standard Builders, Inc.

Hannah Sullivan is a Marketing Coordinator with Standard Builders, Inc. She joined the marketing team as an intern while in college, and has now been at SBI almost five years. Hannah handles both internal and external communication and enjoys the creativity her job entails, and in her free time, she runs a gourmet dessert business as an additional creative outlet.  

Hannah graduated from the University of Connecticut with a degree in Communications and is a part of Construction Institute’s continuing education certificate program for a more rounded perspective of the AEC industry. She has been an active member of SMPS CT for the past year and enjoys volunteering on both the Communications and Programs Committees.

Hannah is thankful for the many opportunities SMPS has offered to learn from the valuable programs and gain from the wealth of knowledge from those who have been in the industry longer. She looks forward to continued involvement in SMPS CT in future years!

This honor is awarded to a SMPS CT member that has gone above and beyond for the Chapter within the 2019-2020 year. The Member of the Year Award recipient was determined by SMPS CT board. Board members are not eligible for this award.

 

Trail Blazer Award - Cynthia Colon, Marketing Coordinator | QA+M Architecture

Cynthia Colon is a Marketing Coordinator at QA+M Architecture. She joined the AEC industry and SMPS in 2019, and is known for her continuous efforts to learn and grow as a marketing professional. With a BA in English and Professional Writing from Southern Connecticut State University, Cynthia enjoys finding a balance of creativity and conciseness to deliver clear and thoughtful results. She is an active member of SMPS Connecticut's Communications Committee and Diversity and Inclusion Taskforce, and will be Secretary to the Board of Directors for the 2020-2021 program year.

This honor is awarded to an up-in-coming Marketer/Business Development Professional who shows great promise for the A/E/C industry and possesses a positive attitude. The SMPS CT board determines the Trail Blazer Award recipient by voting on individuals nominated by SMPS CT members.

 

The James Bancroft Lifetime Achievement Award - Maria A. Loitz, FSMPS, CPSM, Chief Marketing Officer | BVH Integrated Services

A Chief Marketing Officer with 25 years of experience, Maria A. Loitz, FSMPS, CPSM, directs the marketing and communications efforts for BVH Integrated Services, P.C., a leading consulting engineering firm in the Northeast.

Inducted as a Fellow by the Society for Marketing Professional Services in 2016, Maria continues to contribute to SMPS on both a local and national level. A member since 1995, Maria has served in many roles, including committee chairperson, board member, regional conference chairperson, and chapter president. Recognizing the tremendous impact SMPS has had on her career, she continues to serve as a mentor and chapter advisor.

Maria was the recipient of the Hartford Business Journal 40 Under 40 Awards in 2010, recognizing outstanding young professionals in the Greater Hartford area that are excelling in their industries through their leadership roles. She also received the Construction Institute Distinguished Achievement Award for her contributions to the advancement of Connecticut’s construction Industry.

Recognized as an industry leader throughout Connecticut, Maria tirelessly promotes careers in architecture, construction, and engineering to high school students. For the past 15 years, Maria has held leadership roles in the ACE Mentor Program of Connecticut, currently serving as its President. She also co-authored “Addressing the AEC/O Workforce Shortage: How to Attract and Retain Women in Today’s Talent Pool,” published in 2018.

Maria received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Bryant University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Connecticut.

This honor is awarded to a seasoned Marketing/Business Development Professional that has made endless contributions to the Marketing/BD profession within the A/E/C industry, and has also acted as an advisor for the chapter. The SMPS CT board determines the James Bancroft Lifetime Achievement Award recipient by voting on individuals nominated by SMPS CT members.
